MPSGA Mission Statement:

The MPSGA’s mission is to be the best provider of fair and competitive amateur golf tournaments for senior men.

Who is the MPSGA?

We are a non-profit, volunteer organization with over 40 years of history providing competitive amateur golf tournaments for Michigan Seniors, men 50 and older.

We strive to provide good competition at many outstanding courses. Our purposes are consistent with those of the USGA:

1. To provide competitive golf opportunities for the membership.
2. To increase knowledge and awareness of the rules and traditions of golf.
3. To promote those values of the game of golf which relate to good health, friendship and fair play.

2021 Eligibility Requirements

You must be a male Michigan resident. You must have attained the age of 50 before the first tournament in which you wish to participate. To be a full member with GAM/USGA privileges, you must enter at least 4 of the 18 events (Single Day, State, Match Play or Annual Tournament of Champions) during the year. The MPSGA is open to all public, private and university course golfers.

2021 Single Day Tournaments

The MPSGA conducts single-day tournaments throughout the summer months. The starting time for each event is identified on the 2021 Application. This may change based on Covid19 status and the timing will be communicated to all player prior to each Tournament. This allows members the flexibility to pick and choose among the single day tournaments that best fits their schedule. These 15 tournaments are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through the summer.

2021 Match Play Tournament at Pohlcat Course in Mt. Pleasant

The 3-day Match Play tournament will return to the Pohlcat Course in Mt. Pleasant on July 26 (Mon), 27 (Tue) and 28 (Wed).  Tournament headquarters will be at the Holiday Inn with special rates for contestants.

The 3-day MPSGA State Seniors Open-Amateur championship will return to the A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort the week before Labor Day on Aug 30 (Mon), Aug 31 (Tue) and Sept 1 (Wed) 2021.  The first and third rounds are planned at the Sundance Course with the middle round at the Charlevoix Country Club.  Tournament headquarters will be at the main A-Ga-Ming facility overlooking Torch Lake with special rates for contestants from Aug 29 to Sept 1.

2021 MPSGA Tournament of Champions and Annual Meeting - Scramble

In 2021 the Members Tournament of Champions will again be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting and awards ceremony. It will be held this year on September 16 at Lakes of Taylor. We are planning a 9 am shotgun start for golf, with our business meeting and dinner in the afternoon.

Our annual meeting is also a thank you for your participation in the other events of the year. In addition to the brief business meeting after golf, we include a continental breakfast and lunch. We also present the awards for our full season competitions and open the floor to member suggestions and comments.

GAM/USGA Privileges

MPSGA members can use the GAM handicap system to enter all their scores and to maintain an official USGA handicap. (Please note that, because of the new Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) system we are using, you do not have to enter your MPSGA tournament scores in GAM - we will do that for you!) The GAM/USGA membership also allows MPSGA members with qualifying handicaps to participate in the various GAM and USGA championships and events throughout the year.
