In the Metro's inaugural debut at Fremont CC, Brett McBride and Terry Tyson both shot 2-under 34-35-69's. McBride with 5 birdies, bogeyed the dogleg 18th hole, while Tyson followed-up his runner-up finish in the Jermain with another fine round that included 3 birdies. John Raitz, with an ailing hip, still managed an even par 71 to finish 3rd, while new Metro member Joe Cline, made the turn at 2-under, but finished with a double bogey on 18 to finish 4th at 1-over 72.
In the net division, Mike Smothers was able to match McBride's net 6-under 65, after posting nines of 45-41, and besting his handicap by 6 shots. Steve Parks rebounded from two sevens on the front nine, with a 2 birdie even par back nine to finish 3rd with a net 66. Tyson netted 67 for 4th and several players were at net 68.
