Long-time Metro great Tom Yeager, playing in one of the larger TMGA fields in recent years, was undeterred by the recently aerated greens at Ottawa, and stormed out in front with 3 birdies and an eagle for a 5-under 31 on the front nine, and finished off the back nine with 3 more birdies and 3 bogeys for a 5-under 66. Yeager's 66 was 3 shots better than another TMGA veteran great, Terry Tyson, who made 5 birdies in his 2-under round of 69. New TMGA member, Mark Ihde, made the most of his Metro debut, by going eagle/birdie on holes 13/14, helping him shoot 4-under on the back nine for a 38-31-69, good for a tie for second in scratch, and a net 65 for a tie for first (and 1st place winnings in the net division). Brian Simmons and Mark Augustyniak both shot even par 71's to tie for 4th in the scratch division. After Yeager and Ihde's net 65's, Jack Posik, Terry Kohlenberg, Mark Augustyniak and Andy Van Wagner all netted 67 for a tie for 3rd.
There were 4 skins-all eagles on 4, 11, 13, 15-and Yeager's 2 on 9 was tied off by Steve Pace.
