66 players sloshed their way around the wet and soggy Chippewa Golf Course this past Sunday, but it didn't rain, it was above 45 degrees and there weren't 30 mile an hour winds-all conditions we've come to expect the last few years. Tony Reams made 4 birdies while shooting nines of 1 under 34 and 1 over 37 for his 71. James Torsok shot the same nines and made 6 birdies, but a costly double at 18 cost him the outright win. Brian Simmons who tied for 1st in the opener at Ottawa, was very steady as he shot even on both nines, and after making birdie on #6, finished with 12 straight pars. The three will equally share 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize money. Tom Yeager was a shot back at 72.
Chad King had what I think is his best TMGA tournament as he shot 40 on the front and 1 under on the back for an actual 75 and net 67. His back nine included birdie on the long 11th hole (good for a skin) along with 8 pars. King also was closest to the pin on #2-not a bad day Chad! David Spoerl shot 39/41-80 for his net 68 and second place finish. 6 golfers netted 69 to tie for 3rd.
