Gerken makes ace and trounces field at Lenawee CC, Pozsik, Kohlenberg share net top prize-Results now posted. Great Lakes Spring Am at Maumee Bay next event June 4th, 5th.

Brian Gerken, after watching his kid's soccer game, teed off in the last group, and showed why is has been the TMGA Player of the Year for the past 3 years. Not only did he shoot 2-under 69 in very windy, sometimes rainy (with sleet) weather on a difficult golf course, he won by NINE shots!!! And, by the way, he recorded his 7th career ace on the ninth hole. After making bogey on the long and demanding 5th hole (I counted only 6 pars out of 55 players), he finished the front nine with a birdie on the tight 7th hole, birdie on 8 after nearly chipping in for eagle, and then his hole in one on #9. He turned at 3-under 32, and righted the ship after bogeys on 11, 12, 13 with birdies on 14 and 17. Only 5 players broke 80 with Mark Ihde and Tom Yeager tying for 2nd with 78's.
Gerken's net 70 led the net division, but Jack Pozsik 44-42-86 and Terry Kohlenberg 40-44-84 both netted 71 and will split 1st and 2nd place winnings. David Spoerl was next with 42-42-84 and net 72.
