Ben Silverman has honed his golfing skills as a member of the top 20 Duke Blue Devils golf team. He was able to put those skills to good use this weekend as he was able to capture the 35th Great Lakes Spring Am this past weekend at the always tough Maumee Bay Golf Course. Jim Torsok and Silverman both shot 2-under 70's Saturday, and led Jon Brimley by a shot. On Sunday Torsok got off to a hot start by making birdies on the first 2 holes, but Silverman fired another solid round by making 4 birdies and only 2 bogeys for another 2-under 70 finishing the 2 rounds at 4 under 140. Torsok, who also had 4 birdies, was derailed by 2 front nine double bogeys, but his round of 73 and 143 total was good for second place. Jon Brimley was 3rd at 146 and BGSU golfer Trey Walker was 4th at 147.
Dave Harloff, the Handicap Chairman for the TMGA, netted 69 Sunday for a 2-day total of 144, enabling him to squeak out a one stroke victory over Jim Kennedy and Derek Dickerson. Harloff fired nines of 39-41 for 80 and net 69. Dave Pierce and Pat Meyers tied for fourth with 148 totals
