Godzak holes birdie putt on 18 to tie Yeager for scratch honors @ Ironwood, Smothers nips Graff for net title

Even though it was beginning to rain and lighting was in the background and we were waving-up the last 2 groups to beat the storm, Jeff Godzak asked what was low and he knew he needed to can his 15-20 foot birdie putt to tie Tom Yeager @ 1-under 71. He calmly made the putt (good for a skin) to tie for medal honors. Godzak shot 36/35 with 5 birdies. Yeager recovered from a double on the par 3 6th, by playing the last 12 holes in 2-under including 10 straight pars. Brian Gerken & Kevin Kornowa tied for 3rd with even par 72's. Gerken's round included an eagle & 3 birdies, but he finished with bogies on 17 & 18. Kornowa, whose consistent play has him leading for player of the year, birdied 7, 8, & 9, but bogied # 17 to fall a shot short.
Michael Smothers, who recently won the Spring Am, had nines of 45/45 and his net 68 was 1 shot better than Tim Graff who finished a shot behind @ 69 net. His bid was undone by a quad on the par 5 7th (sorry to mention that).
