Augustyniak cards 5 birdies at the tough Lenawee CC to hold off Abke and Yeager by a shot, and also captures net division by 2 shots over Abke.

Lenawee CC always plays tough for the Metro, and with the rain last week the course was playing longer and even tougher than usual. Mark Augustyniak, with nines of 36-36, shot a 1 over par 72. His round included birdies on 2 of the 3 par threes on the front nine, but his birdie on #17 proved to be the difference in his 1 shot victory. Augustyniak also birdied holes 4 and 11, which helped him overcome a double bogey on the tight 7th hole. Jeff Abke had 3 birdies to go with nines of 37-36 for 2 over 73, while Tom Yeager, one of the Metro's premier players for many years, shot nines of 35-38-73, but bogeyed 16 and 18 to fall a shot short.
Augustyniak's net 68 was low, but Abke was 2nd with a net 70, and receives the 1st place winnings. Fred Mann and Theodore Moser were 3rd with net 71's.
